BiH Grand Rapids adds Aldony Mendez to the 2019 Roster ⚽️ Grand Rapids, MI – As the 2019 season approaches, BiH Grand Rapids has released another player that will be joining the team. Aldony Mendez has been signed for the upcoming season and BiH Grand Rapids could not be more excited to have him. Throughout his soccer career Mendez has earned all-state, among many other accomplishments. Prior to joining BiH GR, Mendez played for the Muskegon Risers. George Moni, the head coach of the league stated, “I’m very happy to have Aldony join our BiH Grand Rapids Team. He is a player that brings a lot of skill and experience in our attacking side. I have had the opportunity to work with Aldony before, and I would say that his goal scoring ability is outstanding. He brings a great finishing mastery that is extremely important in our team’s success”. He further commented, “Aldony is someone that not only scores but can create a lot of scoring opportunities due to his high intelligence and ball distribution. He believes in the team and will work tirelessly to win games. Welcome to the team Aldony!”. When asked about how he felt about joining the club he said, “I’m honored to play for BiH GR. We will work hard to go far in the league as a team and make history”. The owners of BiH GR stated, “We are really excited to sign Aldony. He has played indoor soccer with us for years and fits really well with our style of play. He is one of the best players in the area and we can’t wait to see him in our colors”. Deakin brings with him an immense amount of experience and an elaborate list of achievements and awards. Throughout his soccer career Deakin has earned All American, WHAC Player of the Year, WHAC Newcomer of the Year, four year All-Conference, GRFC Defensive Player of the Year, NPSL Champions and WHAC Champion. BiH Grand Rapid’s head coach George Moni commented on Deakin being signed and stated, “It’s exciting news to know that Tony is playing for BiH Grand Rapids. He is a player that I have had the privilege of coaching many times in the span of 15 years and is the embodiment of a true leader. He will bring a great amount of character, mastery, experience, positivity and winning mentality to our team. Tony is someone that knows and believes in my playing style, philosophy and principles. BiH Grand Rapid’s announces George Moni as head coach for 2019 season Grand Rapids, MI – BiH Grand Rapids is excited to announce George Moni as the head coach for the 2019 season. He brings over 30 years of experience as a player and a top coach. George currently serves as Director of Coach and Player Development for Midwest United FC and has been an integral part of the club’s success for the past decade. Without any doubt, he has been one of the coaches with the biggest impact in the Grand Rapids soccer scene. George grew up in Albania, where he played professional soccer from 1984-1994. He also made appearances in the European Qualifiers with the Albanian National Team at the U18 and U21 level. George currently holds his USSF A License, UEFA B License, and his NSCAA Premier Diploma. George’s coaching experience began in 1994-1996 in Albania's top professional league. Since 1996, George has been with various top youth clubs around Michigan as a director and owner. In the span of 22 years George has won hundreds of league and tournament championships including Junior State Cup’s titles and State Cup titles. He has been a crucial part for many years as a Michigan ODP head coach. On the college level George was the assistant coach at Davenport University where his expertise led the program to their first WHAC Conference title. He also was the GRFC head coach, where he led the team to NPSL Great Lakes Conference Cup, Regional finals and US Open Cup spot in their first year in the league. “I am honored and privileged to be named as the BiH Grand Rapids Head Coach for the 2019 season”, said Moni. “From the first meeting with the ownership team, I noticed a great sense of excitement and enthusiasm about this new project and I delighted to be an integral part of it. We had a mutual agreement on the purpose, vision and the direction of the team. Our community has grown a lot of love and passion for the game and has developed many talented soccer players. My goal is to lay a strong foundation, develop a team with a winning mindset and high expectations. A team that will make our GR community proud off”.
